Babysitting

We are dedicated to providing services that enrich the lives of our members.  Our goal is to make sure your child has fun while they learn and gain self-confidence.  The Rec Babysitting Room is a convenience for families, providing children ages 6 weeks to 11 years an opportunity to play safe in a nurturing environment while their parents enjoy the Rec.

Babysitting Services:

Free with all Family Rec Memberships

Free with Adult Memberships for children until they reach 4 years of age.  At this point, membership must be upgraded to Family.

We would like to take the time to Thank You for entrusting us with your children! All REC Babysitting Staff and CPR, AED and First Aid certified.

CHECK-IN

You must sign your child in.  Please write legibly so we are able to read it.  You must sign in your child’s name, current time, the designated place where you will be and your full name.

The person dropping off the child must pick them up.  No one else will be allowed to pick up your children unless previous arrangements have been made.  You must make sure the person in charge knows you are dropping off or picking up your child.

SNACK INFO

We do not provide snacks in the babysitting room.  If you would like your child to have a snack, you must bring in your own.

Drinks are also permitted provided they are in a spill proof container.

Please NO PEANUT products, chips or popcorn!

Also, due to Illinois State Regulations, we do NOT share snacks.  This helps stop the spread of germs and helps better control food allergies.

REMINDERS

The Department of Health requires that shoes and socks be worn at all times by the children of the REC Babysitting Room.

Parents must stay in the building at all times.

If your child cries continuously for 10 minutes, you will need to tend to your child immediately.

If a staff member comes to get you from your workout, we ask that you tend to your child immediately.

Please take your child to the bathroom or change their diaper before signing them in.  Rec Staff are not allowed to change diapers.

DISCIPLINE

Negative behavior includes, but is not limited to: biting, hitting, kicking, punching, pinching, scratching, name calling, etc…

  • FIRST TIME = Your child will receive a time out and you will be informed.
  • SECOND TIME = You will be asked to remove your child from the REC Babysitting Room, and you will have a conference with the REC Babysitting Staff.  A one week suspension from the REC Babysitting Room will take place from the date of the incident.
  • THIRD TIME = Your child will not be allowed into the Babysitting Room for 30 days from the date of the incident.

HEALTH

Your child’s health and safety is of major importance to the REC Babysitting Staff.  Please advise the staff of any special problems (i.e. asthma, allergies, etc.) we need to be aware of at the time of check in.

In consideration to the other children and staff, we ask that you not bring your child into the REC Babysitting Room with the following symptoms:

  • Temperature greater than 98.6 F
  • If he/she has vomited on one or more occasion within the last 24 hours
  • Diarrhea
  • Suspicious rash.  A rash subject to the discretion of the REC.
  • Eye discharge or pink eye
  • Symptoms of measles, mumps, chicken pox, scarlet fever, strep throat or flu
  • Green/yellowish nasal discharge
  • Lice or nits
  • Fatigue that prevents any participation in regular activities.

Your child must be free of fever for 24 hours before returning to The REC Babysitting Room.  If medication is prescribed, a full 24 hours of treatment is required before returning.
